Julia Fox is one of our great style originals. She never wears the same look twice and isn't scared to take chances, push boundaries, and get creative with her glam and wardrobe. She takes inspiration from everywhere, especially art and pop culture, but her most recent red carpet moment reminded us of a beloved summer tradition: a trip through the local carnival funhouse.
For the premiere of her new movie HIM, where she plays a football player's wife and aspiring influencer, Fox channeled a day at a classic summer funfair from head to toe in a polka dot dress, matching hat, and multicolored manicure complete with some seriously fun nail art. So step right up and let's examine every detail, shall we?
The actor's nails were a long, squared-off shape, with each finger getting its own unique, dedicated nail art. The set was primarily composed of shades of red, black, and white with a few other colors mixed in, including beige and tangerine orange. One pinky was painted with a graphic red-and-white design, while the other was painted in a French manicure style with a beige base, dotted white tip, and teeny-tiny decals that look a lot like eggs scattered across the nail. One middle finger featured a 3D harlequin face atop a red and gold base. My personal favorite is her left hand pointer finger, where minuscule 3D eyeballs were placed atop a hypnotizing, swirling red design. When taken as a whole, it feels like wandering through a carnival funhouse, with each room—or in this case, nail—designed to dazzle your senses with color and pattern.

The nails weren't the only standout moment of Fox's HIM premiere moment. She wore her hair in a soft half-up style with ringlets brushing her neck, and atop the curls sat an enormous polka dot hat covered in feathers. She looks like she stepped off the set of a ‘30s or ’40s MGM movie, doesn't she?

Fox knows her style isn't for everyone, but the people who get it really get it—and they appreciate all the thought that goes into it. “To a New Yorker, [my style] is normal… But I could see how someone who's not used to that would be like, ‘What's wrong with her? What drugs is she on? What an attention-seeking whore. Oh my God, the makeup is ugly,'" Fox told Allure in her cover story interview. "To me, that says more about them than it does about me, because, like, damn, you've never gone to the theater? You've never gone to a show, a museum, a fashion show? You've never opened an art book?”
